Wow, I haven't seen this one for a long time. I downloaded it from UseNet several years ago and I'm sure the filesize was much smaller but it was certainly watchable. Considering this rip's filesize and that the original was a 35mm film, is the quality on this version a big enough improvement over a standard 700MB rip to warrant a new download?

People should note this is a silent film with an organ accompaniment. In no way did Mary Pickford look like a child, and since the movie wasn't a "talkie", she overacted mercilessly in order to get the message across, but it was still enjoyable, with lots of little kids... and the dress code for them was a lot less strict than current times. :)

well considering this was not posted and I didn't see another rip on "Emule" than yes this is needed. the film is OT and decent quality. also it is longer than what IMDB states(perhaps a director cut?)

there is a long scene with the kids getting bathed in the stream. what RFF lists is in all here. perhaps you are thinking of another film or the version you saw was cut. this has all the OT :cool

@ Phuzzy, this is not high definition, but i am not sure what the comment about 35 mm has to do with quality. it appears to me that you might be referring to low resolution? if so you might find this article interesting http://www.filmschooldirect.com/sample_ ... s_35mm.htm

I never even thought to post the version I downloaded from UseNet here - didn't really even remember having it - but it definitely had the scenes RFF mentioned which is why I talked about "relaxed" dress codes. Since it's from such a very old film, the quality of the version I have isn't real good which is only to be expected. I don't think the original film was 35mm but has been copied, copied from the copy, and copied from the copy's copy, etc., each step introducing more noise. I just wondered if your larger rip might have gone through a cleanup process that improved the picture quality. Otherwise, I don't want to use up bandwidth, yours or mine, downloading it.

I see what you were getting at now. I don't have your copy to compare, but I will post some screen shots later.

Fortunately there are lots of full sources, so anyone who wants this should have no problem getting it. :)

after watching this I see now the extra length is a short film added on after this one.

I grabbed that file when it first posted but thought it was not enough of an upgrade to do a shareable rip. It is however an upgrade. :|

This cut is 1 hr 33 min. long. Much shorter than PTg's release, but somewhere between the durations reported by IMDB.
IMDB Runtime: 84 min | 110 min (Ontario) .
