Friday, August 26th is the advertised release date.
I plan to be there in attendance come opening night!!!
I saw the Kim Darby version years [YEARS] ago.. I liked Kim in her early films but in this movie she was a young wife..
I love that in THIS adaptation the object of the creatures attention is Bailee Madison [ http://www.imdb.com/name/nm1933128/ ] {Bridge to Terabithia, Last Day of Summer, Saving Sarah Cain, and other film & TV appearances..}. She's a pudgy faced cutie, and I'm looking forward to see how she handles 'horror'...
Hell, this might already be in the stream by now, but I'm not going to bother looking. This looks like a very chilling and most excellent film!
(I also edited the release year in the title to reflect the ACTUAL year of release.. )

Got back from watching this movie a little while ago.
Nice and chilling! As an added bonus, the director seemed to really like Bailee as there were MANY very nice close-ups of her. She's not the best little actress [there were times at the beginning when you could tell she was 'jumping-on-cue', ie 'acting' startled and other awkward moments], but she really has cute chubby cheeks and when she smiles her face lights up.. As the movie progressed though, she seemed to get more comfortable with her character.
Her character was a bit feisty as well as rebellious and more stouthearted than I ever would be in her situation. Yet when the need arose, she still screamed like a little girl!!
My biggest complaint about the movie is that it was shot in the winter, and she wore a lot of clothes throughout the film with leggings or tights on ALL the time... (Except for the bath scene, of course.. )
There were quite a few plot holes that were just plain stupid to me, but Bailee made it all worth the $10 US I had to shell out..
If it's not out online already, I'm sure it will be soon!
I will most definitely get the DVD for this film!!
