Literally, yes, but I have a feeling that "Paws off!" does not have the same semantics in English. It sounds kind of soft.Pranama wrote:Not "Hands off!", but "Paws off!".

Fiction: Nina and her friend Lucy (both 10) undertake a swimming trip with Werner (mid 30s), the new friend of Nina's mother.
Lucy finds the behavior of Werner towards her friend Nina weird. He touches her all the time. He has also given her a bathing suit as a present, so tight that Nina did not like it. When Werner insists on finally seeing her wear her present, Lucy gets angry. Nina does not understand what Lucy means.

Actually 'Paws Off' would work very well in English as it's demeaning the perpetrator to being an animal, which would seem to be in the context of that particular episode..mimzy wrote:Literally, yes, but I have a feeling that "Paws off!" does not have the same semantics in English. In German one can also say "Halt die Schnauze!" (literally "keep your muzzle closed") to tell someone to shut up in a very rude way.
