http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1772408/

In the back streets of a tourist town in present-day Southeast Asia, we find a filthy cinder block room; a bed with soiled sheets; a little girl waits for the next man. Alex (Dermot Mulroney), a human trafficking investigator, plays the role of her next customer as he negotiates with the pimp for the use of the child. Claire (Mira Sorvino), Alex's wife, is caught up in the flow of her new life in Southeast Asia and her role as a volunteer in an aftercare shelter for rescued girls where lives of local neighborhood girl's freedoms and dignity are threatened. Parallel story lines intertwine and unfold twists against the backdrop of the dangerous human trafficking world, in a story of struggle, life, hope and redemption in the "TRADE of INNOCENTS."

Weird as hell.. :eyecrazy

When I first read the synopsis and saw the picture to this thread I thought this was a film that had already been released here called 'Human Trafficking' [ http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0461872/ ]. Looking for it though [quick search, as I gotta get to work], I can't find it.. :(

When I saw that this film starred Mira Sorvino, I figured that there had been some mistake but no, this is a brand new film..

I guess Mira has a soft spot in her heart for this subject... (As well she should!!)

(I could have come across the DVD for this film when searching the movie 'Holly', a film I KNOW is here with a similar theme...)

Thanks for letting us know about this one lara, AND for your spate of [REL]'s that you've posted today! :thumbsup

kev.

Wow, thanks lara. Looks like a gritty maybe-not-so-easy film to watch.

is that a 'not-so-easy-to wach' movie? or an 'easy-to-not-watch' movie? :D

I'm so old my eyeteeth are myopic and I can't see exactly what I'm saying. I stumble over conjunctives and my participles are dangling. :icon_old

Get off my lawn, ya young whippersnapper!

Does anyone have this? Am curious to see it. The torrents long since dissapeared.

I am curious too, I think I remember reading about it here but I do not seem to have it.

EDIT: While the 2013 opensubtitles English file is NAMED for the file at ulozto, the 2018 subtitle actually has the correct sync. While most of the movie dialog is in English, there is some dialog in Thai or Cambodian, so the subtitles can be very helpful. Frustratingly, the English subtitling is not literal but figurative; it does NOT follow the actual dialog spoken word for word! It seems it was machine translated from a language close to English to make an English subtitle that conveys the meaning without actually using the exact wording.

I could not find a version that is just for the non-English parts. I find the mismatches so distracting that I may end up watching it without subtitles at all.
