Die Sterntaler
AKA: The Star Money

The DVD's arrived from Germany last week. This film was the one I was really excited to get. From the pictures, the girl looked lovely, and it was a Grimm's fairy tale I wasn't that familiar with..

Synopsis:
Based on a lesser known Grimm's Fairy Tale, 'The Star Money' tells the tale of an unknown, orphaned girl who is poor and homeless; she has only her clothing and a loaf of bread that a kindhearted soul has given her. She is a goodhearted person, however, and so she goes out into the countryside to see what might happen. She gives a hungry man her bread, and to three cold children she gives her cap, her jacket, and her dress. In a forest, she sees a young child begging for a shift, and since it was dark and she cannot be seen, she gives her own shift away. As she stands with nothing left at all, she finds her kindness is rewarded..
The synopsis is for the Grimm's story 'The Star Money'. In this film I think the girl has parents or is living with a family. Set in olden times the young girl, Mina, goes on a quest to help her village with a talking dog as a companion..

The character of Mina is played by Meira Durand who played 'Lola' the year before in another movie here titled 'Hier Kommt Lola': https://www.first-loves.net/forums/v ... kommt+lola

I've searched around for English subs, but to no avail.. :(

It's not really hard to follow, but there is a good bit of dialogue that would be nice to understand..
